LEAGUE: MIDLANDS 3 EAST (South)
LUTTERWORTH 1st XV: 62 STOCKWOOD PARK 1st XV: 12
Lutterworth finished their league campaign in some style with their biggest winning margin of the season against an injury depleted Stockwood Park.
Under instructions from coach, Dave Turner, to play fifteen man open rugby, the home side delighted the large crowd running in nine tries with Tim Jeffs slotting three penalties and three conversions. The front five forwards dominated the set pieces and the back row provided quick ball, setting up the backs to display their skill and pace. Try scorers were Gareth Court (2), Adam Conway (2), skipper, Dennis Hall (2), Bobby Williams (2) and Nick Hutt.
The result consolidated Lutterworth’s fourth place finish in Midlands Three, having played 22 games, won 16 and lost 6. At the Players Supper following the game, the ‘Coaches player of the year’ was named as Paul Wilford, ‘Players player of the year’ was Gareth Court and ‘Most Improved Player’ was Paul Riley.
