Under 17 Match Report
SUNDAY 30th November 2003
Leicester Lions 5pts V Lutterworth 17pts
Lutterworth Under 17s third Successive Victory
Great game, Lutterworth scored first with a try by Rob Hughes, converted by Mick Brightmore. Lions responded with a breakaway try in the corner.
We then scored from a Scrum on their 5 metre line, a great pickup and drive over the line by Tom Holman – playing at No.8. Our third try was scored in the corner by Richard Evans from the back of a rolling maul.
The second half was a very well contested affair, with both sides attacking and defending extremely well, but no further points were scored with the final score staying at 17 points to 5.
This was a memorable victory for the visitors against top Leicestershire side, Leicester Lions. Manager, Andy Hinton and coach, Tommy Williams were delighted to have bagged such a scalp and paid tribute to an outstanding performance by this young side which is showing fantastic potential and is further evidence of the success of Lutterworth’s commitment to it’s youth policy.
