Under 17 Match Report
SUNDAY 23rd November 2003
Loughborough 12pts V Lutterworth 32pts
Right from the kick off Lutterworth forwards exerted lots of pressure, and should have scored an early try, however Loughborough were the first to score, not converted. Lutterworth then responded with a try from a No8 pick in their 22, then got another one from a driving maul. 10-5 to us at Half time.
Early in the second half Loughborough got a try and converted to make the score 10-12 to them. Shortly afterwards a break in loose play was picked up by Lutterworth and run in under the posts, this try was converted to bring the score to 17-12 to Lutterworth. A successful penalty kick on their 22 brought the score to 20-12.
From the kick off a wide looping move in the backs finished up with a try about to be scored by Charlie Lee in the right hand corner, he was unfortunately taken out by a high tackle, the referee awarding a penalty try, which was converted.
The final try was created by fly-half Mick Brightmore, who ran through a flat Loughborough defence, laying off a pass to Rob Hughes, and then getting a pass back to score – great stuff. Final score 32-12 to Lutterworth.
Tries by Richard Eggleston (2), Craig Hufton, Charlie Lee (Penalty try), Mick Brightmore. With two conversions and a penalty by Mick Brightmore.
