Lions responded with a breakthrough try in the corner to lead 7-8. Sustained pressure from the Lutterworth forwards resulted in a try from flanker Jamie Loughan, again converted by Mick Brightmore, Lutterworth now leading 14-8. However another penalty and a converted try gave the lead back to Lions at half time 14-18.

As second half exploded into action, both sides were forced to defend hard, numerous set pieces resulted in no further scores, however after a succession of hard fought rucks, man of the match, Jamie Loughan burrowed underneath the Lions defence, crossing the line by inches for his second try and to seal the win for Lutterworth 19-18.
