Under 17 Match Report
SUNDAY 14th March 2004
Earlsdon 20pts V Lutterworth 0pts
Lutterworth under 17s defeated at Earlsdon (20-0)
Never having played Earlson before we were a bit unsure as to what to expect, in the end it was a very good close game, with their backs being very organised in Defence, always coming immediately up as a straight line.
Unfortunately Scott Ward was injured and had to come off, this cause some serious problems with the lineout and resulted in not too much possession.
Earlsdon opened the scoring early in the first half with a penalty, this was followed at about 20 minutes with a unconverted try. Lutterworth responded with some very good pressure and a drive over the line, which was unfortunately held up.
Towards the end of the first half Scott Ward injured his shoulder and had to come off, this caused us some serious problems with the lineout and resulted in not too much possession for the backs. Earlsdon managed another try just before half time. Half time score 13-0 to Earlsdon.
Lutterworth started the second half with a great deal of determination and twice came very close to scoring, the second half was nearly scoreless until just before full time when Earlsdon managed to break through a stretched Lutterworth defence to score under the posts. Final score 20-0 to Earls
