Lutterworth Under 17s start the New Year with a Flourish

Lutterworth under 17s started the New Year with a flourish, with an impressive 32-15 victory over Vipers. Making this their sixth successive victory.

On a very windswept pitch, Lutterworth took the game to Vipers right from the kick off with a strong attack on the Vipers line, however Vipers opened the scoring with a breakaway try from their fullback. Lutterworth quickly responded with two tries one from determined driving by the forwards scored by Matt Lund-Yates and the other from set piece play by the backs, scored by Pete Bouchard, playing on the wing.

Vipers fullback then ran in his second try to level the scores at 10-10.  Lutterworth followed this with the best try of the game, after a lineout, there were several phases of tight forwards play resulting in a drive over the line. This try was scored by Tom Holman and was converted by Mick Brightmore, under very difficult kicking conditions, to give Lutterworth a lead of 17-10 at half time.

In the second half, Lutterworth forwards really began to dominate the game, winning most of the loose play, this combined with some impressive handling skills by the backs enabled three tries to be scored in rapid succession. Scrum Half Sam Brookes got the first, Tom Holman got the second and Chris Stanley got the third. Vipers responded with a late try to bring the final score to 32-15.
