SUNDAY 7th December 2003
LUTTERWORTH 12pts V RUGBY LIONS 10pts
Lutterworth Under 17s triumph again
Lutterworth under 17s clocked up their fourth successive win beating Rugby Lions 12-10 in a hard fought game.
After an initial period of open play Rugby Lions opened the scoring with their first try in the corner. Fly half Mick Brightmore, responded with an electric darting run through Lions defence to level the scores.
Shortly before half time, Richard Evans pealed off the back of a rolling maul, that had formed from a set line-out to score Lutterworth’s second try, this was converted by Mick Brightmore, giving the home side a 12-5 lead at half time.
Early in the second half Lions scored a breakaway try in the corner, but missed the conversion. This was followed by 30 minutes of entertaining Rugby, with both sides only being stopped from scoring by excellent defence, especially a try saving tackle by man of the match Mick Brightmore.
