Under 13 Match Report

SUNDAY 30th November 2003

Lutts under 13’s make it 9 out of 9!

One of the problems of having such a big squad (29 at last count!!), is being able to give everyone a game. This Sunday Lutterworth was given the chance to split the squad and send a development team (including a number of senior players) to South Leicester, while the rest of the senior players entertained Long Buckby at home.

Achieving good wins in both games, this just showed the strength of this superb squad of young players:

South Leicester 12pts   V   Lutterworth  39pts

An early try by scrum half James Cooke was cancelled out by a quick reply from South Leicester. There then followed some great pressure from Lutts, were they scored four trys from Will Williams, Josh McLaurin (2) and Cooke with his second. Successful conversions came from McLaurin and Williams.

South then scored their second try, only to be pinned back through two more trys from “Man of the Match” James Cooke.

Scoring details:

39-12

Cooke (4), McLaurin (2), Williams &

[Conv – McLaurin (1) and Williams (1)].

Lutterworth 48pts  v  Long Buckby 0pts

Mathew Everard opened the scoring with a pick up and drive over, converted by Greg Littlewood. Minutes later a scrum close to the Long Buckby line was picked up by Everard who once again showed his strength by driving through the defence for his second (converted by Will Keeling).

Everard inevitably got his hat trick after taking a quick tap penalty close to the Buckby line and once again using his strength to power over. Minutes from the end of the first half the ball was moved quickly from the scrum and along the line for Ashley Parrott to score his first try for the club, which was successfully converted by Littlewood. The half time score was 26-0

Everard continued were he left off by picking up the ball from the back of a scrum and driving through for his fourth try. Lutts then scored the best try of the game as the ball moved from one side to the other, through the entire back line, for Keeling to race over. Five minutes later they attempted to repeat that score as the ball passed from hand-to-hand for Bradley Milner to touch down and Keeling to convert.

With seconds left to full time Tristan Crawshaw scored a great individual try to make the final score 48-0 to Lutts. A “Man of the Match” performance from captain and number 8 Mathew Everard and a superb 9 wins from nine this season, from the Harborough and Lutterworth Mail “2003 Junior Team of the Year”!
