Lutts u13’s through to the Final!

On Sunday Lutterworth under 13’s travelled to South Leicester, to play the County Cup Semi Final game. The pitch was in excellent condition, so a hard fought contest was expected. Another big crowd was not disappointed, as Lutts ran out 34-7 winners.

Lutts has most of the play and forced a mistake early on with the ball moving along the line to Will Keeling. He received the ball on opposition 22 and made a great run through to score. Greg Littlewood was successful with the conversion. Minutes later the ball was deep into South’s half as Matt Everard picked up loose ball and made a great run through and over the line, to score.

South Leicester kept competing despite this setback and they were rewarded with a try and conversion to pull within 5 of Lutterworths score. Then a great Lutts charge down in South Leicester territory found its way to Dan Holmes who dropped on it, to give them deserving 17-7 half time lead.

The second half saw Lutterworth looking for that killer 4th try, which would close out the game. It quickly came from Matt Everard as he picked up close to South Leicester line and made a great jinking run, to score an excellent try. The next try was down to a quick tap penalty that was moved out to Littlewood, who made a great run through and over the line. Keeling was successful with the kick.

With minutes to go Littlewood made another great pick up and run to force his way over the line, to make the final score 34-7 to Lutterworth. That booked this great side a place in the final against Oadby Wyggs, to be held at Coalville on May 2nd and also made it 28 wins from as many starts this season.
