Lutterworth under 13’s march on!

On Sunday Lutterworth under 13’s welcomed Hinckley, in the first round of the Leicestershire County Cup. The draw had pitched the best two teams in the age group together in what was billed as the “clash of the giants”. The big crowd were not disappointed.

In a forward dominated first few minutes Hinckley took the lead from a well taken try. Lutts never let their heads drop and deservedly replied from a superb Mathew Everard solo try. Then 10 minutes later a superb cross-field kick from Jack Edwards found Greg Littlewood, who out stripped the Hinckley defence for another great score. Half time score 10-5 to Lutts.

The second half continued in the same vein and Lutts found themselves 5 metres out and in control of a scrum. Number 8 Everard picked up and once again ran at the defence. Hinckley could not stop this rampaging runner and he crossed for his second try. Littlewood converted to make it 17-5

In a tense last 5 minutes Hinckley managed to cross the line, but a great Lutts defence held out for a final 17-10 win.

A great advert for rugby at this level, just a shame they had to meet in the first round!
