Under 13 Match Report

SUNDAY 22nd February  2004

Lutterworth 47pts  V   Coalville 7pts

20 wins from 20 for Lutts under 13’s

On Sunday Lutterworth under 13’s welcomed Coalville to Ashby Lane on a sunny but bitter cold day. Once again both teams were missing some key players due to holiday commitments, so another exciting game was expected.

Lutts opened the scoring early on, after Ashley Parrott picked up and made a superb run down the wing, then cut inside to score under the posts. Will Keeling was successful with the conversion.

They kept the pressure on and Keeling scored an excellent try to extend the lead. He received the ball after great hands, made an arcing run down the wing and then in under the posts. He also converted his own try.

Coalville stepped up a gear and scored a great try through their fly half, who also converted. The ball was kicked straight back into Coalville territory and Lutts took control of the drive. Parrott picked up and used his strength to drive through and over the line. Keeling again converted to make it 21-7 at half time. Coalville pushed forward from the kick off and were threatening the line as the ball was knocked forward. Gareth Clarke, making his Lutts debut picked up the loose ball on his own line. He decided to run it straight from there and showed his speed covering the entire length of the pitch to score a superb individual try.

Minutes latter Greg Littewood received the ball on half way and showed he was no slow coach as he out sprinted the Coalville defence to score a great try. Lutts continued pushing forward and the ball again found its way to Littlewood who made one of his trademark kicks to the wing. The wind slowed down the ball and Clarke picked up brilliantly and made great run through the defence and under the posts. Littlewood converted.

With seconds to go Clarke picked up loose ball on half way and again ran straight at the Coalville defence. His power and speed made him unstoppable as he registered a superb debut hat trick. Keeling scored the easy kick to make the final score 47-7 to Lutterworth and win 20 from 20 this season
