SUNDAY 7th March  2004

County CUP Quarter Final

Lutterworth 39pts  V   Kibworth 0pts

Lutts u13’s make it to the Semi Final

On Sunday Lutterworth under 13’s finally welcomed Market Harborough based Kibworth to Ashby Lane, after the previous two cancellations of this County Cup Quarter Final. The pitch was in good condition, despite the heavy rain and an exciting hard fought derby cup clash was expected. The big crowd was not disappointed.

Lutts had most of the play early on and forced a scrum close to the Kibworth line. The ball was moved out quickly and reached Ashley Parrott who drove over in the corner for the first try. The home team kept the pressure on and opened up as the ball was brilliantly moved through hands from one wing to the other. Will Keeling, who was involved twice in this passing move, fittingly finished off after a great loop around to score in the corner.

Despite these two early set backs Kibworth never let their heads drop and looked as if they were getting back into it as Parrott once again crossed the line. His second try was a superb individual effort as he picked up on half way and ran at the Kibworth defence. He pushed off every attempt to tackle him and forced his way over the try line. A great score, that took Lutts in 15-0 half time leaders.

The second half saw Lutterworth looking for the killer 4th try, which would see off any possible Kibworth comeback. It quickly came from Matt Everard as he picked up close to Kibworth line and drove through to score. The kick was successfully converted by Keeling. The home forwards started to take control as Everard again drove for the line, but the defence held tight. The ball was then nicely presented for Parrott to pick up and he bravely drove through the bodies to register another great hat trick.

After the forward dominance it was great to see Lutts open up with some more great back play. Good hands saw the ball move along the line to Greg Littlewood, who took the ball at speed and made a great run down the wing, to cut in and score behind the posts. Keeling again converted. With minutes remaining Lutts found themselves close to the Kibworth line. Good passing along the line finally found a gap for Luke Ball who scored in the corner, to make the final score 39-0 to Lutterworth.

Despite the one way score line, Kibworth never stopped trying but this superb Lutterworth side just keep going and going. That was win number 21 from 21 starts, this season.

Next Sunday they travel to South Leicester for the Semi Final of this Leicestershire County Cup competition
