Under 13 Match Report

SUNDAY 4th  January  2004

Lutterworth  39pts  V  Kibworth 5pts

Lutts U13’s start New Year in style!

On Sunday Lutterworth under 13’s got the New Year off to a superb start by extending their unbeaten run to 14 games, with a 39-5 home win over Kibworth.

The visitors dominated the first 10 minutes, camping out in the Lutts half, before the home team finally shook off the cobwebs from Christmas and came back into the game. It did however take a great flash if individual brilliance to open the scoring as Will Keeling raced from his own half, split the defence and scored a great try. He missed the difficult kick

Lutts continued to pressure as a quick Luke Ball pass, close to the Kibworth line, reached James Cooke, who crashed through for the try. The next try owed everything to some great forward play. Ashley Parrott drove through, Peter Rowe picked up and continued the drive forward were Josh McLaurin was in support to pick up and force his way over the line. Keeling converted to make the half time score 17-0.

Luterworth held off a good restart by Kibworth and then turned defence into attack as they drove towards their line. The ball was once again picked up by McLaurin, who drove through the defence to register his 2nd try. Almost immediately Lutts were again attacking the line as the ball was passed to Ashley Parrott. He used his speed to run through the defensive line and then his strength to touch down.

Some nice back play led to the next try as the ball went along the line to Keeling who then beat three players to score in the corner.

Kibworth then had a good passage of play and deservedly scored a consolation try as their forwards caused havoc in the Lutts defence.  As if stung by that try, Lutts immediately raced up towards the Kibworth line and the ball was passed out to Parrott. He made a superb arcing run to cut through the line and score under the posts. Luke ball cheekily drop kicked the conversion to make the final score 39-5 to Lutts.

These two local rivals meet again in two weeks time, in the Second Round of the Cup.
