Under 13 Match Report

SUNDAY 1st  February  2004

Belgrave 7pts  V  Lutterworth  53pts

Lutts u13’s run in 9 for another win!

On Sunday Lutterworth under 13’s travelled to Abbey Lane to take on Belgrave, in their second fixture against them this season. In a superb display of rugby, Lutts ran our 53-7 winners, despite the extremely windy and muddy conditions. Will Keeling opened the scoring after 5 minutes. He received the ball outside the opposition 22 and made a great run, splitting the defence for a great try. Belgrave reacted with some attacking rugby and forced a penalty, which was narrowly missed. Lutts then raced up the field and some lovely hands through the backs saw the ball reach Keeling, who raced over from close range.

Once again good work between the forwards and backs saw Lutts camped out on the home sides line. Matthew Everard picked up and drove through the line for his first try. Greg Littlewood was successful with the conversion. Straight from the restart Belgrave scored a superb individual try and were also successful with the kick. Lutts then regained the initiative as they once again camped on the home sides line. Three attempts to drive over were repelled until Everard picked up and pushed his way through for his second try. Keeling scored the conversion to make the half time score 24-7 to Lutts.

Early in the second half Lutts moved the ball along the line to Ashley Parrott, who made a great run through the centre and touched down under the posts. The next try was down to some superb running by Littlewood. He received the ball on half way line, ran down the wing and then suddenly cut inside to fool the defence and score under the posts. He also converted his own try. The next try came straight out of the England textbook, as Littlewood made a superb kick to the corner and Peter Rowe was first to the ball to touch down. Littlewood once again converted.

Belgrave pushed forward but the defence continued to hold out attack after attack until Luke Ball picked up a loose ball behind his own line. Instead of touching down he moved the ball out to Ashley Parrott, who ran the entire length of the field to finish off in the corner. A classic defence into attack move! Lutts then spent the final 5 minutes on the Belgrave line, but the home defence bravely held out until Everard picked up and forced his way over the line to register a superb hat trick.
