1st TEAM   Match Report

SATURDAY 11th OCTOBER 2003

LEAGUE ; MIDLANDS 3 EAST (South)

Stewarts & Lloyds 1st XV 17pts v  Lutterworth 1st XV  30pts

It was Lutterworth supplying the steel as the former foundry workers from Corby were put in their place by another convincing performance. In the fourth league match of the season Lutterworth continued in their unbeaten start to the season and confirmed the league position of equal leaders. S&L had previously proved a bogey side for Lutterworth but all such misgivings were soon forgotten with another strong display. Paul Riley scored the first try after some good work by the backs. Rob Sands got the second from a driving maul. Phil Daffern scored next after excellent link-up play between forwards and backs. The last try was scored by Time Jeffs which was set up by some superb handling and runing from Paul Riley. Jeffs got two penalties and two conversions.   S&L were much more determined in the second period but resolute defending by Lutts saw the away team emerge worthy winners.
